Chapter 54 Meeting Notes: July 2011

Only those documents produced and retained by the Chapter Secretary are official. Minutes are posted in the month that they are taken, not the month that they are read and approved. The list of those present is inclusive, and may include non-members and guests.


July Chapter 54 Meeting Minutes

Time: 1:00 PM

Location: WHRO Studios, Norfolk, VA

Meeting called to order at 1:05 PM by Chairman Charles Stutsman

Self-Introductions:

There was no Secretary Report for June due to the FEMA Roundtable webinar.

Treasurer’s Report was given by Treasurer Ray Lenz:
Disbursements and receipts:
A check in the amount of $147.01 was written to Orapax for the June Lunch.
A purchase in the amount of $23.51 was made from Kroger for drinks.
A check in the amount of $559.20 was received from SBE National as our annual membership rebate.
Last month’s meeting brought a check for $10.00 and $180.00 cash from members
and visitors in payment for the June lunch.
Balance in Chapter Accounts:
Checking: $5,254.44
Petty Cash: $269.05
Total Chapter Assets: $5,523.49
Treasurer’s Note: Our Wachovia banking account will soon see some change.
Some time ago Wells Fargo Bank purchased Wachovia Bank. All Wachovia accounts in Virginia
are being transferred to Wells over the weekend of August 6. With the exception of that change
all else appears to remain the same. No action is required at this time.

SBE National: Proposed 7Ghz & 13 Ghz BAS rule changes. The National SBE will be filing comments with the FCC.

EAS: The FCC notice on proposed rule memorandum on EAS has been published in the federal register and
comments are due by July 20.

Certification: Nothing to report.

Frequency Coordination: Nothing to report.

Web: Nothing to report.

Membership: Nothing to report.

Digital Transition: Nothing to report. Charles Stutsman said he would contact Eddie Durham about ECS continuing sustaining membership.
Ray Lenz said he would send out sustaining membership notices next week.

Joe Husnay discussed enforcement of video identification and children’s programming rules.

Program: Chairman Charles Stutsman introduced Damon Roach of Harris who introduced speaker Craig Beardsley.
Craig gave a presentation on television audio loudness especially dealing with commercial loudness.
Craig covered the history of ATSC, A-85, The CALM Act and recommended practice of
implementing A-85 which the FCC has adopted.

Meeting adjourned at 2:35 pm.
