Chapter 54 Meeting Notes: January 2011

Only those documents produced and retained by the Chapter Secretary are official. Minutes are posted in the month that they are taken, not the month that they are read and approved. The list of those present is inclusive, and may include non-members and guests.


Chapter 54 Meeting Minutes: January 13, 2011

Meeting called to order at 1:10 PM by Chairman Charles Stutsman

Self-Introductions:

December meeting minutes were read by Chairman Charles Stutsman

Treasurer’s Report

Disbursements and receipts:
A check in the amount of $215.98 was written to Orapax for the December lunch.
There were no receipts.
As moved and voted at the December meeting the balance of $2,012.73 in our
Certificate of Deposit was transferred to checking and the CD closed out.
Balance in Chapter Accounts:
Checking: $5430.16
Petty Cash: $269.05
Total Chapter Assets: $5,699.21

SBE National: Nothing to report.

EAS: No report but the new RMT schedule was brought up. Chris Gunnefsen discussed
the March Tornado drill will be a TOR not an RMT.

Certification: Nothing to report.

Frequency Coordination: WAVY-TV flash-cut its Hampton translator to a low power digital station on
channel 10.

Web: 2011 EAS RMT Scehdule for Virginia and North Carolina are available on the web site under
EAS/Amber section.

Membership: Richard Dyer reported no new membership news.

Digital Transition: Nothing to report.

Program: Chairman Charles Stutsman led a discussion on technologies coming in 2011.
Discussed were EAS CAP, M/H, web casting and networking. There was also a request
to discuss RAIDS for video storage, Fiber, The Ignite system as well as video conversion.
The chapter will also look at PSIP for digital TV and SIS & PSD for digital radio.
Richard Dyer asked about satellite dish installation and maintenance. It was mentioned
that Eastern Communications was going out of business and that ISS is a good resource.
Kevin Weiner of Cox Communications will present the cable fiber ring and getting the
stations signal to the subscriber’s home at the February meeting.
We will have primer on networking at our March meeting.
