Greetings from Hampton Roads ! GENERAL INFORMATION | TECHNICALLY SPEAKING | TOURISTS LINKS |
. . . . . Generally,. TIDEWATER is the name used to describe the area along the coastal plain of Virginia, where rivers and streams still feel the influence of Atlantic tidal flow. It is the area where English colonists first made permanent settlements in the new world. It is the birthplace of American Democracy, the American Navy, powered flight and the manned spaceflight program.
It is an area halfway between New York City and Charleston that is rich in history and culture; rich in natural and recreational resources; and rich in technological opportunities. Look over the regional map we've provided, and notice how many historical sites and recreational areas are nationally known landmarks -- and they're right in our back yard !!
