Call to order: called to order at 1:14 by Chairmen, Chris Gunnefsun followed by self-introductions
Committee Reports:
Secretary: Secretary, Richard Dyer was not present; Charles Stutsman recorded the minutes
Treasurer: Russell Taylor read his report noting that 3 new vendors had paid sustaining membership
SBE National: Ted Hand reported that Chapter 54 won “Best Chapter Frequency Coordination Effort” in 2006 for the 3rd time in four years. The award will be presented at the SBE National Convention October 10-11, 2007 at the Radisson Hotel and ExpoMart, Monroeville, PA. This convention is being held in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Regional Convention, sponsored by Chapter 20.
EAS: Chairman Paul Campbell was not present. A Surry Test was scheduled for the week in which the chapter meeting was held.
Certification: no report
Web: Ted reports that there is a new certification page on the website, an updated frequency coordination page, and new maps on the chapter website.
Frequency Coordination: Ted reported there were no new requests for frequency coordination help in August.
Membership: nothing reported
Digital Transition Committee: no report
Elections: The Chapter Chairman reminded everyone present that the list of nominations had been passed out to everyone present fulfilling the bylaws provision that the nominations be presented in writing 30 days prior to the election at the October meeting. Chris also requested that the ballots be mailed out and tallied at the October meeting.
Other Business: Chris also reminded everyone that the DTV Boot Camp would be taking place in Washington D.C. the next Wednesday and Thursday after the meeting. (9-17-2007 note from the Secretary: this event is sold out with a long waiting list)
A motion was made by Treasurer Russell Taylor in response to a suggestion by Secretary Richard Dyer to reimburse Ted Hand for part of his expenses to the fall SBE meeting in Pittsburgh since while working outside the market, he still serves the chapter on a consistent basis. The motion was seconded by Charles Stutsman. The motion was approved unanimously with a limit of $500.00.
Program: Chapter Chairman Chris Gunnufsen said he would ask John Heinke of Digital Video Group to help the chapter out with getting programs on a temporary basis, but wanted to get back to that being a chapter member function with the help of several vendors in order to keep the programs education based rather than sales based.
Pat Hamp of Clear-Com gave a very educational presentation on the history and future of Intercoms and IFB entitled “Intercom an Evolution …” His presentation focused on the major intercom vendors moving toward a “frameless software based intercom system using IP, LAN, and WAN technologies.
