Self-Introductions
October minutes were read by Secretary Donna Porter
Committee Reports(s):
Treasurer: Russell Taylor reported the following:
SBE National: Ted Hand advised receipt of Insurance information.
EAS: Keith O’Malley not present. Ongoing discussions between PBS and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management discussing the use of satellite as an alternative means of distribution of EAS information.
Certification: Bill Swartz not present. One person taking the exam this period. Applications for the next exam period must be submitted not later than December 29 in order to take the exam in February.
Web: Ted Hand was present. Nothing to report.
Frequency Coordination: SKY 4 received approval for STL tower. Moving link 6925 – 6950 from Va. Beach/Moyock to Greenbrier/Camden. Also, Don Burke filed individually for two frequencies, 450.2125 and 450.25. Application will be pulled. Awaiting more information.
Membership: Richard Dyer was present. Nothing to report.
Digital Transition: Chris Gunnufsen will re-send out an email to request time and location information from those people who have signed up to be on the committee.
Other Business: Ted Hand resigned as Vice-Chairman as he is leaving the area. Charles Stutsman volunteered to fill the Vice-Chairman position. Nomination voted and passed.
Ted Hand to continue as Frequency Coordination and Webmaster until a replacement is found. Nomination committee announcement to be attached to December meeting advertisement.
Ted Hand received a Lifetime Achievement award from the Chapter in appreciation of his outstanding support to the organization.
Program: Kevin Weiner, from COX, spoke on system architecture, how a signal is taken from an individual station processed and transmitted over cable. Also discussed, AVSL partnership with COX, how to better resolved escalated customer issues.
