Self-Introductions
July minutes were read by Secretary Russell Taylor
Committee Reports(s):
Treasurer: Frank Butler reported the following:
SBE National: Chapter 54 has won "Best Chapter Website" for the second year in a row.
EAS: Keith O’Malley was present. Problems with the most recent Amber Alert test. Amber Alert EAS text information is in the works.
Certification: Bill Swartz not present. Next testing period is August 11-21.
Web: Ted Hand is still working on the MP3 recording for the business part of the meeting. Evertz is the newest sustaining member.
Frequency Coordination: Ted Hand was present. WLRT (1490) has applied for a new transmit and path location for its STL from Armstead Ave. in Hampton.
Membership: Richard Dyer was present. Nothing new to report. New chapter members are Lisa Williams and Donna Porter.
Digital Transition: Committee meeting postponed to October. Anyone interested joining the committee should contact Chris Gunnufsen or John Heimerl.
New Business: Bucky Stover, Engineer for WDBJ and Certification Chairman for the Roanoke SBE Chapter 78, passed away. He suffered a heart attack while driving the satellite truck to a news story. A nomination committee has been formed for the upcoming Chapter 54 election. The Nominating Committee members are Charles Stutsman and Frank Butler.
Program: Jason Williams, Audio Engineer for Leitch, spoke on TDM audio, noise-free switching and the benefits associated with TDM for large router configurations. Todd Riggs, Product Manager for Leitch, spoke on the Leitch Platinum routers which utilize TDM technology and also have built-in signal processing.
