Treasurer: Frank Butler reported the following:
SBE National: The Strategic Planning Meeting was held in Kansas City. Ted Hand represented Chapter 54 at the meeting. Ted Hand presented receipts and was reimbursed for airline and motel expense.
EAS: Keith O’Malley not present. The Department of Homeland Security and PBS tested the new Digital Emergency Alert System. The test information was successfully decoded at WHRO.
Certification: Bill Swartz not present. Certification information is available at www.sbe54.org and www.sbe.org .
Web: Pages are up to date. Address changes. Freq Coord Map and database changes. Working on the .mp3 file of the monthly meeting.
Frequency Coordination: Ted Hand was present. Hampton City Schools request a 2 GHz frequency for graduation on June 10. East Carolina Radio requested a RPU frequency for the boat races in E. City, NC on June 17. WSKY-TV has flipped WPUC-814 and WPUC-818 from COX Headend to WPYA-FM tower and from WPYA-FM tower to WSKY-TV tower in Mamie, NC. Ted Hand has been named to the SBE National Frequency Coordination Committee.
Membership: Richard Dyer was not present. Membership application available on www.sbe54.org.
Digital Transition: Committee meeting postponed to October. Anyone interested joining the committee should contact Chris Gunnufsen or John Heimerl.
New Business: Chapter 54 Certificate of Deposit will be rolled over. Digital Video Group is the newest Sustaining Member of Chapter 54. Placement of Sustaining Members logos on the sponsorship page of the SBE 54 web site were discussed. Logos will be shown as members pay. i.e. newest on top.
Program: Ron Karolick from Chyron spoke on the ChyTV, a video graphics system for television information displays and digital signage. ChyTV displays a variety of graphic and text information overlaid or surrounding a live video region and also integrates audio WAV files for sound clips or voice-overs.
