Chapter 54 Meeting Notes: June 2006


Minutes of the monthly meetings are provided here for the convenience of those unable to attend the meetings, and are not to be considered official Chapter records. Only those documents produced and retained by the Chapter Secretary are official. Minutes are posted in the month that they are taken, not the month that they are read and approved. The list of those present is inclusive, and may include non-members and guests.

Meeting called to order at 1:22 PM by President, Chris Gunnufsen

Self-Introductions

May minutes were read by Secretary Russell Taylor

Committee Reports(s):

Treasurer: Frank Butler reported the following:
Checking: $1,668.17
Certificate of Deposit: $1,735.00
Petty Cash: $226.74
Disbursements: Check number 1082 in the amount of $253.22 to WHRO for May lunch
and check number 1083 in the amount of $150.00 to Redeemer Lutheran Church in the
name of Paul Hecht. Received a checks from Whitlock Group totaling $712.65 for lunch
sponsorship.
Total Chapter assets: $3,629.91

SBE National: Pollyanna Bayman has been hired to replace Angel Bates.
Megan Clappe has been promoted to fill Linda Baun's position.
Debbie Hennessey is a new hire.

EAS: Keith O’Malley not present. The LCCC Meeting on May 25 was attend by many broadcasters.
Homeland security is a possible topic for a future meeting.

Certification: Bill Swartz was not present, Marshall Nute is the newest chapter certified member - CBTE.

Web: Ted Hand was present. Will start recording business part of meeting as a mp3 file to be placed
on the web site.

Frequency Coordination: Ted Hand reported the following TRL applications: WTAR 450.010, WROX 455.010
and WPYA 455.020. Remined all stations that P channel are now gone and you must use 6.25Khz spacing
no grandfather rule in effect on this. 1010AM WRJR (fka WPMH) has gone dark as per the FCC agreement
with Disney Radio.

Membership: Richard Dyer was present. Membership forms are available at www.sbe54.org and www.sbe.org.

Digital Transition: Committee will start in June. Anyone interested in being on the committee should
contact John Heimerl or Chris Gunnufsen.

New Business: Chris talk about Strategic Planning and the upcomming national meeting on July 8 in Kansas
City. Ted Hand will be the chapter represitive. A motion was made to reimburse Ted Hand for his travel to
Kansas City by Charles Stutsman. It was seconded by Tom Jordan. The motion was voted on and passed.
Ted Hand abstain in voting. Ted Hand will present receipts of the trip to the chapter treasurer when
he returns.

There was discussion on dropping summer chapter meeting. No decision was made, present meeting
schedule will continue.

Program: This month Kevin Weiner, Headend Supervisor at COX Cable, talked on Digital Cable, Cable cards,
specturm use, channel reuse.

Meeting adjourned at 2:53 pm.
