Chapter 54 Meeting Notes: March 2006


Minutes of the monthly meetings are provided here for the convenience of those unable to attend the meetings, and are not to be considered official Chapter records. Only those documents produced and retained by the Chapter Secretary are official. Minutes are posted in the month that they are taken, not the month that they are read and approved. The list of those present is inclusive, and may include non-members and guests.

Meeting called to order at 1:11 PM by Chairman Chris Gunnufsen

Self-introductions

February minutes were read by Secretary Russell Taylor.

Committee Report(s):

Treasurer: Frank Butler reported the following:
Checking: $6,349.37
Certificate of Deposit: $1,735.00
Petty Cash: $226.74.
Total Chapter assets: $8311.11.
Disbursements: Check number 1077 for $247.64 to WHRO for February Lunch. Chapter received checks from Whitlock Group, Senocre, & Microwave Radio for DTV seminar sponsorship.

SBE National: Ted Hand was present. Show your wallet size certification card at the SBE booth at NAB and receive a gift.

EAS: Keith O'Malley was not present. Nothing to report.

Certification: Bill Swartz was not present. April 21 is the closing date for the June 2-12 exam period.

Web: Ted Hand was present. Nothing to report.

Frequency Coordination: Ted Hand was present. Nothing to report.

Membership: Richard Dyer was present. Working on VA Pilot notice.

Digital Transition: Committee will start in May/June. Russell Taylor suggested that the issue of DTV audio loudness levels be addressed by the committee.

VSB seminar: Currently there are 7 sponsors (Rohde & Schwartz, Whitlock Group, DMT, MRC, Sencore, Evertz and Tektronix). 21 people have signed up so far, Chris will resend the flyer infornmation. The reception will be held at 6:30pm on March 15 at WHRO.

Program: Doug Davison was present. Nothing to report.

New business: No new business

The program was by Ross Video, Gary Stephens spoke on OVER DRIVE, Production Automation. The Ross Video Overdrive production control system is designed for automation of news and other live event productions. The Overdrive production control system interfaces to video servers, VTRs, DDRs, audio mixers, robotic cameras, routers, still stores, MOS newsroom systems, and more. The Overdrive system is a Windows-based computer system and interfaces to Ross Video switchers.
