Committee Report(s):
Treasurer: Frank Butler reported the following:
SBE National: Ted Hand report that national new address is: 9102 N. Meridain Street, Suite 150, Indianapolis, IN 46260. There are 56 members in the chapter.
EAS: Keith O'Malley was present. Nothing to report.
Certification: Bill Swartz was present. Giving exams this week. Record of nine people taking exams this session. He reported the closing date of March 3rd for the April 25, 2006 exam at the NAB. The closing date for the local exam on June 2-12 is April 21st.
Web: Frequency Coordination info is up to date. Added pictures and link to NEXTEL/Sprint January 2006 Update.
Frequency Coordination: Ted Hand reported WYRM-AM 1110 has applied for a STL from Norfolk to Carrollton at 950.500 MHz, Horiz. Gov. Inaugration Freq Coord went ok, no problems.
Membership: Richard Dyer was present. He is taking suggestions on how to improve membership and is looking into publishing meeting information in the Virginia Pilot business section.
Digital Transition: Committee will start in May/June.
VSB seminar: Currently there are 5 sponsors. A reception will be held at 6:30 pm on March 15, 2006 at WHRO. Doug Davidson is working on sponsorship of the seminar and the reception.
Program: Doug Davison was present. Nothing to report.
New business: George Randell reported on the Media Reliability Security Council. The council is working on providing a better response to catastrophes through coordination of government and communication agencies. George Randell made a motion to create a MRSC committee. The motion was seconded by John Heimerl. A vote was taken and the measure was approved. MRSC links will be posted on the chapter website. Chris Gunnufsen will research possible grants to fund local emergency services education.
The program was by Glowpoint, Dan Bollin spoke on Hi-res video and audio over IP. They do feeds for the NFL, CourtTV, ABC News.
